A shade sail is a sheet of fabric fixed by its corners to posts or to a wall and pulled tight. It gives shade without a roof structure, lets the air flow underneath and looks light. It works over a patio, a play area, a parking space, a terrace or next to the pool.
We make them to fit the spot: we check where each corner can be anchored and suggest the shape and position. The photos on this page are sails we installed ourselves.
Public spaces
In a town square in Cantoria we put up several sails on posts to shade the playground and benches. Each one covers part of the square, and together they shade it without closing it in. The same works for schools, community patios or bar terraces.
At home
At a house, a sail is usually fixed to the wall on one side and to posts on the other. We have put them over patios and terraces, above the dining table or the seating area. Triangular or four-sided, depending on where the corners can go.
Where each corner is anchored
A sail works under tension, so every corner needs a solid point: a strong wall, a well-founded post or a structure. That's why it isn't done from a photo: when we measure, we see which walls will take it and where posts are needed.
